The Association of Old Settlers of Sikkim (AOSS) on June 3 claimed that unrelated persons are issuing press statements in the name of the association. Such persons are doing so to incite communal harmony for obvious reasons, it said.
The AOSS also announced its president RC Mundra as the association’s sole spokesperson. The association shall not be liable for any statements or press release issued by persons other than the official spokesperson, it said.
Meanwhile, members of the Bihari community of different places of Sikkim met today at Deorali and condemned the statements given to media by a group of old settlers yesterday.
The community is annoyed with the false statements made by them as they are members of AOSS, said the community members in a press statement.
“We are with the appeal made by AOSS and request for peace and communal harmony. We appeal people not to listen to all such traitors and opportunists who want to take advantage of this situation”, said the members.
“We also request AOSS to rectify the mistakes in the petition which are hurting others sentiments as soon as possible”, said members.
